I fight because (a) I’ve never been happier than with my partner of 10 years, hoping to make it a lifetime; (b) I spent almost 37 years in the closet before I told my family and friends I’d found the man that I love more than anything or anyone on the planet, 10 years ago; (c) there weren’t guys like Hudson in my Oklahoma high school or college, which I regret — if I hadn’t had to be closeted to them and even myself then, I might have pursued sports more aggressively, and maybe been pretty good, rather than avoid it for being labeled a “fag” – it wasn’t until I was older I learned how much I appreciated football and especially baseball — and not for stupid gay stereotype reasons, I probably should add, but because the strategies and tactics/skills still intrigue me and keep me a fan!

I’ve started this blog for one simple purpose: To help people who believe in equality to share their story. It is my belief that the best thing the LGBT community and their allies can do to change society’s perception and understanding of the gay rights movement, is to share their experiences with the world. In short, I want to know, “why do you fight for equality?” If you would like to contribute please add your story in the comment box below.
