I fight because I believe every person should have the same religious and social freedoms as their neighbors. That the God who made the heterosexual, also made the homosexual and has the same right to Grace, Love and Forgiveness.
I fight because, while I know that I have a voice, there are thousands and thousands more who feel like they have no voice. That their opinions, hopes and dreams don’t matter. That the desires of their hearts have to go unfullfilled because they are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or trangendered.
I fight because so many children walking around our streets have no home because they are gay and their families have rejected them.
While many others will commit suicide before they ever graduate high school.
I fight with the hope that my life and my actions will help reveal the flaws and cracks in the facade of prejudice and reveal that we, in fact, have many more things that should bind us together rather than seperate us.
I fight because I am a gay man, and the stories and rumors being told about me and people like me are wrong.
And that’s why I fight.
